FISHERY MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

I have a speaking engagement tomorrow regarding the role of local government units in fishery development and management. This topic is interesting to me as a nature lover. My audience will be fishery law enforcement officers, barangay leaders and fishing cooperative members. This is my first time to speak about this topic so before I peeked on my sites, I made my powerpoint presentation first. It is interesting to impart upon my audience the important role they play in conserving, protecting and sustaining management of the municipal waters fishery and aquatic resources. I hope to give justice to my presentation tomorrow afternoon.

FACTS ABOUT MOSQUITOES

Don't know why mosquitoes are attracted on me. In the house, I am the one prone to be bitten by mosquitoes more than my children. In the office, too mosquitoes attack on me head on even when I am moving. I tried to make a research on why this is so and I got the answer. Mosquitoes look in a person the smell that they like. Maybe I am giving the smell mosquitoes love. To those who are mosquito bite free or those who are rarely bitten, his or her body gives off a smell that masks the scent that attracts mosquitoes. So this is it. Maybe I don't have an insect repellent odor the reason for mosquitoes to feast on me. In the house even when we have screened doors and windows, mosquitoes slip in but when they do, I see to it that I massacre them all. Even the lizard that is on our walls may hate me for snatching their food mosquito away. Whenever I see mosquitoes, I see to it that they are dead before they find me and get bitten off.

WATER IGNITES WHEN LIT

Ever saw water that ignites when lit? I did witness this when we went on an educational trip to the Tongonan Geothermal Plant in Kananga, Leyte. In the resort of the Municipal Mayor where we had our lunch, the participants told me that there is a faucet nearby that ignites when lit. I went to see if it was true and true enough, I saw it ignites when lit up. My staff was able to take pictures of it, too. I don't know how this happened but maybe, they have a natural water well in that area that is rich in underground methane. I was not able to ask the Mayor on the interventions they have to utilize this natural resources in a proper way.

DREAM FOR THE FUTURE

When my elder son was still so young, I asked him what would he like to be in future. I almost blurted out when he answered that he wanted to be a motorcycle driver. He was influenced by the motorcycle driver whom I hired for their transport to school. He says a motorcycle driver has a lot of money. Last year, I asked him again what would he like to be when he graduates in high school. This time he said he wanted to be an officer in the military. When I came across this site about obtaining online military degrees I was reminded of my younger son's dream. I asked him yesterday if he still wanted to be an officer in the military and he says he wanted to be an engineer. He still have two years to decide since he is currently 2nd year high school. By that time, his mind will have been fixed on what to be when he grows up.

SAVED BY RECEIPTS

It really pays to keep the official receipt of whatever payment one makes. I was in the life insurance company this morning to follow up on the certificate of full payment of my life insurance and of my mother's life insurance premiums, which the company called up that I am missing payment on my mothers'. I brought the receipts with me and they were clarified that I did not have to make a reinstatement payment for my mother's life insurance. I am paying the life insurance premiums of my mother that is why I know that I have not been remiss in paying. The receipts saved me from paying the reinstatement fee, which was bigger than the monthly premium.

COINS COLLECTION

I have a box containing a collection of coins from my recent trips abroad. My younger son found it and he was asking if he can be spared some. I have Malaysian 5,10,20 and 50 sens, and 5, 10, 20 50, and $1 Singapore cents. I also have US 1 cent, 5 cents, one dime, quarter dollar and half dollar coins. These coins are still usable until today. How I wish I have a gold coin in my collection, too. It is fun to be collecting coins. I have once been hooked to collecting stamps and key holders. And now, I am hooked to collecting coins. A friend who is coming home from Japan promised to give me japan coins, too. One day, I will plot my collections in one part of the house. But, if I have gold coins, I surely will not display it. I would rather keep it as an investment.

ROAD SAFETY

Motorcycle are noticed to be the rampant mode of transportation among many people, nowadays. Why not? It is fuel efficient and less expensive transport than cars. The risk however, it poses upon its drivers on accidents is high because it is only a two-wheeled vehicle and balancing is quiet difficult. Drivers have also to contend with the inclement weather because it has no roof protection. Despite these risks, there are also drivers who are reckless. Some commit traffic infractions like overtaking on the right side on a two-way lane road, non-wearing of helmets for protection purposes and travelling without functional signal lights and many others. One won't wonder why there are more road accidents and deaths involving motorcycle owners. I wish motorcycle owners will learn to be extra cautious of road safety. After all, it is not only the lives of others who are at stake but their own personal lives as well.

PEP TALKS ON GOLD BULLIONS

In my entire life, I have never seen a real gold bullion, have you? I only saw it in movies. But are they as lustrous as they are in real? I also do not know. This was one of the topics of our conversation in the office yesterday when a person came over to pay for the mining permit within the town. I thought they were mining for gold but they were not, they were mining for copper. If it was for gold, I would surely insist to see a real gold bullion once they become successful in mining. One of my office mates told me that if I really wanted to see a real gold bullion, I should work in a bank because some wealthy clients deposit them in the banks safety vault. We ended the pep talks with a laugh that we are not being productive at all in the office. When the electric power was restored, we immediately went back to work on our respective tasks and totally forgot about the gold bullion stuffs.

LANZONES FRUIT

This month is like the month of May. There are many fruits that are still in season, although this seldom happens. On my way out of the office, I bought lanzones, an exotic asian fruit, from a vendor who let me taste one fruit of it. When I came to taste the sweet lanzones, I bought two kilos and tagged it home. My children enjoyed it. The two kilos was devoured in just an hour. That is how sweet it is, otherwise, the lanzones could have just been left on top of the table. By the way I just copied the pic from onefilipinodish.com.

GENIE WITH GOLD COINS

There is a school activity tomorrow in my younger son's school. He was asking money when I arrived home because he needed to buy a cameza chino as one of their costumes in a drama show he will perform. He will act as a genie who just got out of the bottle. One plot will depict him as a genie who gives wealth to one well wisher of gold coins, gold jewelries and gold bullions. A funny twist in the story shows him as one who can also grant appliances, home furnitures and anything one well wisher asks of him. I hope their show goes well. He already ensured the digicam battery is fully charged as he will take pictures of the activities tomorrow. He does not need to buy the gold coins from the United States Gold Bureau because the gold coins are just props made out of coins wrapped in gold tin foils.

NETBOOK

When I went to the computer store today to inquire about the printer I wanted to buy for the office, my eyes caught the netbook sold at a relatively cheap price. I liked it because its was sleek and not so heavy to carry unlike the laptop I am using now. I was wondering when could I ever buy it? It is not practical now to buy a new computer gadget since I still have a serviceable laptop and a desktop. I just contend with window shopping for it and just wished on my mind that one day I can have one without a spending a cent. Everything is possible, who knows?

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY

Today was a drizzling day. I use to love rainy days but after a flu for almost a number of days I don't welcome the rain, anymore. I am so careful not to get sick again because I can't afford to be off from work at this time. I have many tasks to do and all are set with deadlines. Aside from the tasks in my office there are other interagency activities that I have to attend to. A good weather to complement good health will make me do all my tasks, so rain, rain go away.

TREASURING GOLD

Do you have investments for the future? How well do you take care of your investments? Well, for me one of my investments is jewelries. Call me vain but I have jewelries I bought years before that I used as daily accessories until now. I wear gold and silver jewelries depending on my mood for the day. I did not intend before to buy gold jewelries as investments, I only intended to have them as adornments. I even lost some of them and some were never redeemed in the pawnshop. Now, I consider buying gold and silver jewelries not just as personal accessories but investments as well. I am getting wiser as I grow older. I make sure never to be careless again in wearing them unlike before when I did not care if they get lost. I know now that gold is a treasure today and in the future.

STRICKEN WITH FLU

I was down with flu since Monday evening. After the flu, came the cough. The inclement weather took advantage of my low body resistance. I had to rest in the house from Monday until today. I missed some of my appointments in the office. I even missed my tasks because I was not able to open my computer. I am glad that I feel better, now. I have to keep up with many things but I have to take things slowly lest I have a relapse.

PAMPERING

This Sunday is a pampering day. Why pamper? I had a foot spa and nail polish. I did not have any money spent in all this pampering. It was courtesy of a friend who had a foot spa and nail polish at the beauty parlor. I wish every Sunday will be like this. Nail polish color I have now is natural. Natural color of nail polish is simple for me.

MONDAY BUZZ

This has been a busy Monday for me. I had a community organizing, a department heads meeting and a staff meeting. I also had to go to my mother station to get the pro-forma forms for one elective barangay official's heir who wish to claim death benefits for her demised husband. I hope to finish all my tasks but when will my tasks end? Everyday, almost a new task arise. Well, one day I will file a leave of absence to get a rest from all these hectic daily schedules. This year is entirely a busy year for me. Last year was not so much. I hope by the end of the semester, every thing will be easier already.

PERIDOT BIRTHSTONE

It is already August. Many of us wonder what does the month of August brings? Well, for me I am hoping that I will be less busy than last month. The month of August reminds me of the peridot birthstone. Those born in this month is represented by this birthstone. Peridot has a green cast that indicates the presence of iron. It is often mistaken for the emerald stone, birthstone for those born in the month of May, like me.

BUSY DAY

The month of July is a busy month for me. Today in office is the awarding ceremony of the Search for Best Performing Lupon launched under my chairmanship. To coincide with the awarding is also the culmination activities for the celebration of the Nutrition Month and also the culmination activity for the Persons with Disability week. The whole day will be a busy day for me. No time for me to bloghop now. Last night as I was starting to bloghop, there was power failure. Time did not cooperate with me.
